Harvey Nichols revamps its menswear space

There’s much made of menswear’s boom. Chaps now care about their clothes en masse, say the statistics, as the shirts and trousers sectors gain ground on dresses. But numbers don’t necessarily translate into action and, for all the success of London Collections Men and its global counterparts, menswear is still relegated to the nose-bleed floors in most stores.

So our thanks to Harvey Nichols for saving our legs and our wardrobes, with its new, two-floor menswear mecca. After nine months hammering away behind plasterboard, the London department store has launched its refurbished men’s department, featuring 270 designers (50 of whom are brand new to Harvey Nichols), from the high fashion of Lanvin and Gucci, to contemporary labels like Y-3 and hard-to-find Japanese brand Sasquatchfabrix.

There’s also a glut of exclusive collections, with 1205, Casely-Hayford and Tiger Of Sweden producing one-off pieces to mark the relaunch.

But best of all, the department sits across the two lower-ground floors. So no more Alpine-style treks the minute you arrive. Although considering how weighed down with bags you’ll be after visiting, we imagine the trip back up could be tricky. Best bring a sherpa.

The refurbished Harvey Nichols menswear department is now open at the brand’s flagship store: 109-125 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7RJ.
